Do it scared

Fear. It's not always a bad thing.

It will sharpen your senses when you are in danger.

It will make you more invested when you can't afford to fail.

It will let you know when you really want something; the thought of losing it or never getting it is unbearable. 

So don't be ashamed of feeling fear. Acknowledge the fear, and do it scared.

My first tattoo is a reminder of this:

Together a secret code just for me of one of my favorite verses, John 10:10... "The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and life abundantly." We have to live our life... Honestly. Purposefully. Bravely. 

Bibliophile

I read. A lot.

I never go anywhere without a book. 

Stuck waiting because the doctor is behind schedule? *waves book*

Getting the oil changed in my car? *waves book*

The third wheel at a social gathering that I didn't want to go to anyway.... *hides behind book & hopes no one notices me*

So, when work is slow at my second job at a gym, I can be found reading. (Honestly, this is 80% of the time.) All of our regulars know this and will ask what I'm reading. I've become very good at the quick and simple synopsis. It's quick and easy conversation. And it is surprisingly soul baring without being personal; for what gives you better insight into a person than a book they are excited to tell you about?

There are a couple of regulars, however, that want the details. And we have good discussions about the plot, the themes, the writing and world building.... all the things that make up a great book. 

I love our little unofficial book club. We meet when we run into each other. We talk about whatever is in hand at the moment. And we leave knowing that there are other book lovers like ourselves out in the world. 

Just do it.

So, they say that the best way to become a writer is to, well, write. And that seems so simple. I mean, writers write, right? 

But that's where I get sidetracked. I start thinking too hard about it. What am I going to write about? How long is the thing I want to write going to be? Will anyone actually want to read what I have written? I think I'm hilarious, and insightful, and analytical, and a bit of a pot-stirrer (sorry husband). But what about my fictional readers?? Will they like it? Will I inspire thought-provoking conversations or change?

I guess the only way to know is to throw something out into the universe and see what happens.
